Yesteryear Collection

The CX27 was introduced in 1938 and was designed to carry the highest payload within the 5 tonne unladen weight class. The twin steer front wheel layot-sometimes called a "Chinese Six" enabled a load of 11 tonnes to be carried. Customers had a choice of 6 cylinder 120bhp petrol engine or 105bhp diesel engine with a 5 speed gearbox transmission.

Albion was a Scottish bus and lorry manufacturer, founded in 1899 and independent until its takeover by Leyland in 1951. The vehicles were built under its own brand until 1972, then until closing in 1980 under the Leyland brand. The Albion CX27 was a truck from the 50s.

With sales of past MOY models growing exponentially in the 1980s and early 1990s, Matchbox wanted to expand the product range to include more commercial vehicles to complement the cars that were the main theme of the series. R&D chose the Albion CX27 because of its unique styling with a "flat fronted" cab-over-engine design, a theme not previously available in the series.
